Apartments for rent and a district that reminds of a university campus from American movies. It has its own infrastructure so it is possible not to leave the area: not only there are restaurants and shops but also a pool with waves for surfers, libraries, galleries, workshops, a start-up generator, offices, so you can start a business right where you live. Our goal in this project is to create the most intense and creative environment for cooperative creativity.

KAMPUS

Apartments for rent and a district that reminds of a university campus from American movies. It has its own infrastructure so it is possible not to leave the area: not only there are restaurants and shops but also a pool with waves for surfers, libraries, galleries, workshops, a start-up generator, offices, so you can start a business right where you live. Our goal in this project is to create the most intense and creative environment for cooperative creativity.

WHAT VALUES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR THE PROJECT

We believe that collaboration is the best way to create something, that team is more effective than even the most talented individual and feelings from cooperative creativity and exchange of energy can’t be replaced with anything. Therefore, we want to relieve people from everyday responsibilities, help them free their minds and give them time for interaction with like-minded people and work on breakthrough projects. Tools for reaching this goal are sharing, co-living, co-working. Enthusiasts of this lifestyle are digital nomads..

WHY STUDIOS ARE SO SMALL - FROM 20 M2

All household functions are removed out of the flats. We suppose that residents will do laundry in laundry rooms, work in co-workings, not store books on the shelves but borrow them from the library, and all these services will be situated on the first floor. And food will be delivered from nearby restaurants and cafes.

WHY PROJECT WITH SUCH CONCEPT WILL APPEAR ON THIS AREA

The KAMPUS will be situated in the Zvenigorodskoye highway area. Now it’s an industrial zone and it has almost no infrastructure, that’s why we gathered everything necessary within the area. Also, we are planning to make the KAMPUS a center of attraction for citizens - like the Depo, for example. Now, when Muscovites don’t know what they want to eat they go to a food mall and make their decision right there. It will be the same in the KAMPUS but with leisure activities and working spaces.

WHAT OUR TEAM DISCUSSED THE MOST

We wanted our future resident to say: «I won’t live anywhere but the KAMPUS because nowhere else I would be able to live, work, party, meet new people and start my own business at the same place». To achieve this goal, we needed to ensure that residents would have a simple and fast access to all the opportunities of the district, so it would be possible, for example, to reach all infrastructure facilities and not get wet in the rain. Still, it is important to keep a balance between public and private: the whole area should become home for a resident, but public function should not interfere with private life where our resident doesn’t want it.

TEAM

American bureau ODA, which is famous for its socially responsible approach, developed the architecture. Its team believes that with the help of architecture and design better - and fairer - future can be created.
